View MoreProduct OverviewThe shearer (shielded) rubber sheathed flexible cable is a dedicated power connection cable for underground coal mine shearers and similar mechanical equipment. Due to the extremely harsh environment at the mining face, the cable needs to withstand high-intensity frequent flexing, dragging, abrasion, and impact, while also possessing very high electrical safety performance to prevent sparks from causing gas accidents. This cable series uses high-performance rubber insulation and sheath, offering outstanding tear resistance, abrasion resistance, oil resistance, and flame retardant properties. Depending on functional and safety requirements, it is divided into standard rubber sheathed flexible cable (MC), shielded rubber sheathed flexible cable (MCP), and advanced models integrating monitoring cores or metallic shielding (MCPT, MCPTJ, etc.).
Executive Standards
This product series strictly implements national coal industry standards and stringent enterprise standards:
- MT/T 818.2-2009, MT/T 818.4-2009
- Q/320481SS139.2-2020, Q/320481SS139.4-2020
- Q/320481SS363-2023, Q/320481SS425-2023
Common Models and Voltage Ratings
Shearer cables are divided into several grades based on different voltage requirements and protective constructions:
1. Rated voltage 0.38/0.66 kV
- MC: Shearer rubber sheathed flexible cable.
- MCP: Shearer shielded rubber sheathed flexible cable.
2. Rated voltage 0.66/1.14 kV
- MCP: Shearer shielded rubber sheathed flexible cable.
- MCPT: Shearer metallic shielded rubber sheathed flexible cable.
- MCPTJ: Shearer metallic shielded monitoring type rubber sheathed flexible cable.
- MCPX, MCPTX: Specific protection types.
3. Rated voltage 1.9/3.3 kV
- Covering high-end high-power specifications such as MCP, MCPT, MCPTJ, MCPTX, and MCPB (dedicated code for shearer cables).
Product Specification Range
The cable adopts a composite construction, typically including power cores, an earth core, and control/monitoring cores:
- 0.38/0.66 kV specification examples: 3×16+1×4+3×2.5 to 3×185+1×35+3×2.5.
- 0.66/1.14 kV specification examples: 3×25+1×16+3×4, 3×120+1×50+3×4, etc.
- 1.9/3.3 kV specification examples: 3×25+1×10+3×2.5 to 3×185+1×35+3×2.5.
- MCPB specialized specifications: 16 mm² – 185 mm².
Cable Structural Characteristics
- High-flexibility conductor: Stranded using multiple bundles of very fine copper wires to ensure the cable does not suffer core breakage during frequent movement.
- Specialty insulation/sheath rubber: The sheath possesses high-strength mechanical protection capability, tolerating occasional crushing by underground mine cars and abrasion from sharp rocks.
- Shielding construction (P/PT):
- Semi-conductive shielding (MCP): Uses semi-conductive rubber to balance the electric field.
- Metallic shielding (MCPT/MCPTJ): Uses copper wire braiding or wrapping, offering very good short-circuit current carrying capacity and shielding effectiveness.
- Monitoring type design (J/TJ): A built-in monitoring core can be linked with the coal mine safety monitoring system to promptly alarm and cut off power when the cable is damaged or insulation is degraded.
Applicable Scenarios
- Fully mechanized mining face: Mainly used to connect the power supply of the shearer.
- Mobile machinery: Suitable for various mining equipment that need to be frequently moved and wound within the mining area.
- Damp and flammable environments: Due to its excellent waterproof sealing and high flame retardant properties, suitable for locations with gas explosion risks such as underground coal mines.
Manufacturing Division
- This product series is mainly manufactured by the Rubber Cable Division. Some models (such as MCPX) are jointly manufactured by the Marine Cable Division and the Rubber Cable Division.
Procurement and Safety Notes
All rubber sheathed flexible cables used underground in coal mines must hold a valid MA (Mining Safety Approval) certificate. When selecting, the corresponding cross-section should be matched according to the rated power (current-carrying capacity) and actual operating voltage (0.66 kV or 1.14 kV, etc.) of the shearer, and it should be confirmed whether a monitoring core (type J) is needed to comply with coal mine safety monitoring regulations.
