View MoreProduct Overview Rated voltage 0.6/1kV cross-linked polyethylene insulated power cable is a power cable product using cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE) as the insulation material. Based on this basic cable, flame-retardant and/or fire-resistant properties are added to form series products such as flame-retardant type (ZR), fire-resistant type (NH), and flame-retardant fire-resistant type (ZRN). XLPE insulation material has excellent thermo-mechanical properties, superior electrical properties, and chemical corrosion resistance. At the same time, the cable is light in weight, easy to transport and lay, and is not limited by laying drops. This type of cable is widely used for transmitting and distributing electrical energy in power, construction, industrial and mining, metallurgy, petroleum, chemical, transportation, and other departments. Especially flame-retardant and fire-resistant products are suitable for fire alarm systems, fire-fighting facilities, emergency systems, and other places with special requirements for safe power supply.
Main Implementation Standards
- GB/T 12706.1: Requirements for basic structure, dimensions, electrical, and mechanical properties.
- GB/T 19666-2019: General rules for flame retardant and fire resistant characteristics.
- IEC 60502-1: International standard for power cables with extruded insulation for rated voltages from 1kV to 30kV.
- GB/T 19216.21: Tests for electric cables under fire conditions — Circuit integrity.
- GB/T 18380 (Series): Tests on electric and optical fiber cables under fire conditions.
Usage Characteristics (Technical Parameters)
1. Rated Voltage: Rated voltage U0/U is 0.6/1 kV, maximum system voltage Um is 1.2 kV, and the applicable frequency is 50 Hz.
2. Temperature Parameters:
- Maximum long-term allowable working temperature of conductor: 90°C.
- Maximum conductor temperature during short circuit (max 5s): 250°C.
- Ambient temperature for cable laying: Not lower than 0°C (preheating required if lower).
3. Minimum Bending Radius (D is outer diameter):
- Single-core: 20D (Unarmored) / 15D (Armored).
- Multi-core: 15D (Unarmored) / 12D (Armored).
4. Electrical Performance: AC voltage test (routine test) is 3.5 kV / 5 min without insulation breakdown. Insulation volume resistivity is not less than 1 x 10^12 ohm·cm at 90°C.
Cable Structure and Materials
- Conductor: Uses Class 1 (solid) or Class 2 (stranded) copper or aluminum conductors. Copper is recommended for high reliability, while aluminum is suitable for cost-sensitive projects.
- Insulation: Cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE), providing high temperature resistance, low dielectric loss, and high mechanical strength.
- Filling and Cabling: Multi-core cables are cabled with non-hygroscopic filling materials to ensure a round shape.
- Armoring Layer (Optional): Includes steel tape armoring (Codes 22, 23) for pressure resistance and steel wire armoring (Codes 32, 33) for tensile strength.
- Sheath: Options include PVC (V) for general use, PE (Y) for moisture resistance, and LSZH (E) for personnel-intensive places.
- Fire-resistant Layer (Fire-resistant type only): A mica tape layer is wrapped between the conductor and insulation to ensure the cable remains functional during a fire (withstanding temperatures over 800°C).
Flame-retardant and Fire-resistant Performance
1. Flame-retardant (ZR): Uses flame-retardant additives to inhibit flame spread. Divided into Classes A (ZA), B (ZB), C (ZC), and D (ZD). Class A offers the highest performance.
2. Fire-resistant (NH): Uses a mica tape isolation layer to maintain circuit integrity in flames. It is divided into Class A (950-1000°C for 180 min) and Class B/C (830°C for 90 min).
Common Models and Naming Rules
- YJV / YJLV: Copper / Aluminum core basic type, PVC sheath.
- YJV22 / YJLV22: Copper / Aluminum core armored type, PVC sheath.
- ZR-YJV / ZA-YJV: Flame-retardant (Class C / Class A) power cables.
- NH-YJV: Fire-resistant power cable.
- WDZN-YJY: LSZH flame-retardant fire-resistant power cable.
Specification Range
- Cores: Available in 1 to 5 cores (including 3+1, 4+1, 3+2 configurations).
- Cross-section: Generally 1.5 to 240 mm² for copper cores; single-core options can extend up to 1000 mm².
Ampacity Reference (YJV22 Example)
- 4 mm²: 50A (Air) / 73A (Buried).
- 25 mm²: 153A (Air) / 194A (Buried).
- 185 mm²: 595A (Air) / 594A (Buried).
Note: Values are for reference and must be adjusted based on actual installation conditions.
Laying and Installation Requirements
Laying temperature must be at or above 0°C. Armored models (YJV22) are suitable for direct burial, whereas steel wire armored types (YJV32) are designed for vertical installation.
Recommended Application Scenarios
- Commercial and high-rise buildings: ZA-YJV or NH-YJV.
- Fire protection systems: NH-YJV or WDZN-YJY.
- Industrial use: YJV or YJV22.
Product Advantages
1. High Heat Resistance: Operating at 90°C allows for higher ampacity or the use of smaller cross-sections compared to standard PVC cables.
2. Excellent Insulation: Low dielectric constant and high resistivity reduce electrical losses.
3. Mechanical Strength: Durable construction and armoring options withstand harsh installation environments.
Precautions for Purchase
Always verify compliance with standards GB/T 12706.1 and GB/T 19666. Choose the appropriate flame-retardant and fire-resistant grades based on project requirements to ensure safety and cost-effectiveness. Ensure products pass the 3.5kV/5min AC voltage test before leaving the factory.
